Job SummaryLou Fusz Mazda in Evansville, Indiana is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Automotive Collision Painter to join our growing collision repair team. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality refinish work that meets OEM standards, dealership expectations, and customer satisfaction goals.
The ideal candidate takes pride in craftsmanship, follows proven paint processes, and works well within a team-focused, dealership environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform complete automotive refinishing work, including prep, masking, priming, basecoat, and clearcoat application
- Match paint colors accurately using manufacturer formulas and blending techniques
- Inspect vehicles before and after painting to ensure quality standards are met
- Operate and maintain spray booths, paint guns, and related equipment
- Follow OEM, dealership, and insurance repair guidelines
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe paint area
- Communicate with estimators, body technicians, and management regarding job status and quality concerns
- Identify and report any repair issues or delays promptly
- Comply with all safety, environmental, and hazardous material regulations
- Previous experience as an automotive collision painter (dealership or collision center preferred)
- Strong knowledge of refinish systems, materials, and techniques
- Experience with waterborne paint systems preferred
- Ability to perform accurate color matching and blending
- Understanding of OEM repair standards and quality control processes
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining high-quality results
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- High attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Strong time-management and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
