Automotive Collision Painter

Job Summary

Lou Fusz Mazda in Evansville, Indiana is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Automotive Collision Painter to join our growing collision repair team. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality refinish work that meets OEM standards, dealership expectations, and customer satisfaction goals.

The ideal candidate takes pride in craftsmanship, follows proven paint processes, and works well within a team-focused, dealership environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform complete automotive refinishing work, including prep, masking, priming, basecoat, and clearcoat application
  • Match paint colors accurately using manufacturer formulas and blending techniques
  • Inspect vehicles before and after painting to ensure quality standards are met
  • Operate and maintain spray booths, paint guns, and related equipment
  • Follow OEM, dealership, and insurance repair guidelines
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe paint area
  • Communicate with estimators, body technicians, and management regarding job status and quality concerns
  • Identify and report any repair issues or delays promptly
  • Comply with all safety, environmental, and hazardous material regulations
Qualifications & Experience
  • Previous experience as an automotive collision painter (dealership or collision center preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of refinish systems, materials, and techniques
  • Experience with waterborne paint systems preferred
  • Ability to perform accurate color matching and blending
  • Understanding of OEM repair standards and quality control processes
  • Ability to work efficiently while maintaining high-quality results
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
