Kemper CPA Group LLP, a top 100 public accounting firm, is a multifaceted regional CPA firm with 26 offices in Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, and California. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for an Internal Senior Accountant position in our Evansville, Indiana Administrative office.

The Internal Senior Accountant will perform most tasks with minimal supervision. He or she demonstrates a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn. Such an individual will fulfill a variety of general accounting assignments, serving the internal needs of the firm rather than external clients. The appropriate candidate should possess a basic understanding of accounting concepts. This position reports to the Partner-in-Charge of Administration and Human Resources and is full-time with some overtime expected during peak seasons.

Job Responsibilities
  • Complete basic procedures for general accounting functions such as bank reconciliations, journal entries, intercompany billing, and select bill payment.
  • Assist with and oversee preparation of monthly internal financial statements. Reconcile accounts and prepare supporting statements and schedules.
  • Prepare external financial statements annually in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare calculations, reports, and reconciliations for partnership equity transactions monthly, annually, and as needed or requested.
  • Prepare monthly or quarterly payroll tax returns for multiple entities, and deposit payroll taxes on a bi-weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis, as required.
  • Make deposits for various employee benefits including 401k contributions and HSA contributions.
  • Monitor cash balances and prepare weekly reports of cash, accounts receivable, and work in process.
  • Assist in preparation of the firm’s tax return by providing necessary work papers and support. Monitor payment of taxes and estimates for taxes.
  • Prepare information needed for various activities including annual workers’ compensation audit, annual partner meeting, and annual insurance renewal.
  • Assist in mergers and acquisition activity by tracking commissions and payments due.
  • Maintain records of firm licenses for all states and renew as needed.
  • Work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor, Managing Partner, or other partners.
Qualifications and Competencies
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field with 3-5 years of experience in an accounting or professional service field preferred.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Display analytical skills with an orientation to focus on details and accuracy.
  • Possess technology skills which contribute to the completion of assignments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Display the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate ownership of work assigned and take the initiative to complete the work assigned.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Pay: $65,000 - $80,000 / year
