Job Overview

The Account Executive is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with new and existing customers. This role is focused on increasing unit sales and revenue growth year over year to help achieve company growth goals. Account Executives develop and implement strategies to reduce product waste from unsold finished products. There is an expectation for comprehensive understanding of all departmental SOPs and BPWs and the ability to replicate desired outcomes for all assigned SOPs.

Reporting: Sales Manager

Responsibilities And Duties
  • Account Management. Overall responsibility for building and maintaining relationships with assigned clients. Develop multiple contacts and relationships at each client, utilize CRM features in NAV to maintain accurate contacts information. Educate customers about Clesen Wholesale, promote new products, provide consultative information based on industry trends and shared customer insights.
  • Revenue Growth. Increase unit sales to existing customers by prebooking orders in advance of each season. Contact IGC customers Monday mornings during shipping season to reload their benches, react to their needs and proactively suggest items to purchase. Visit IGC’s weekly during shipping season to observe the quality, variety and quantity of products they stock. Meet with landscape customers before each season to discuss their goals and how we can help assist them in achieving.
  • Business Development:
    Identify new business opportunities with self-generated leads. Actively manage lead pipeline from inbound leads, trade shows and customer referrals. Identify products and product lines for Clesen Wholesale to consider offering customers.
  • Customer Visits. Meet with your customers frequently, top ones each season and all annually. Garden centers with previous sales history should be seen in person at least once per season, landscapers at least once per year. Remote video meetings are encouraged to maintain customer relationship between onsite meetings.
  • Waste Reduction. Identify and promote items with excess inventory to customers, develop specific customer targets for these items, proactively identify when inventory levels are excessive, provide appropriate feedback to sales manager to help facilitate waste reduction goals.
  • Web Ordering. Convert more customer transactions to the web and reduce efforts required for Account Executive or CCS to enter orders. This includes training customers on web ordering, promoting benefits, along with making suggestions on functionality enhancements.
  • Order Administration. Enter orders and proactively manage these through delivery date. order entry, item and delivery date changes, product shortages and substitutions. Ensure accurate order processing to meet customer requests.
  • New Product Development. Identify opportunities to introduce products to our offerings that can increase revenue through new sales.
  • Departmental SOP and BPW. Ensure knowledge of all departmental BPW and SOPs, be able to replicate the desired outcome of all assigned SOPs. Escalate and propose changes when needed to address necessary changes to achieve desired results. Train other as needed on any processes which you have been designated as the trainer.
