Position Highlights
Position: Nurse Specialist – Otolaryngology‑Head & Neck Surgical Oncology and Thyroid Oncology
Location: Evanston Hospital
Full Time/Part Time: Full‑Time (40 hours per week)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00AM–4:30PM (flexible)
- License: Current professional Nursing Licensure in the State of Illinois
- Education: BSN required
- Certification: BLS/CPR required
- Experience: 3 years of nursing experience in an office or hospital setting required; oncology experience preferred
- Function as a subject expert and/or program coordinator in providing nursing care to patients within Head & Neck Cancer and Thyroid division
- Provide nursing assessment of patient condition and evaluation of follow‑up needs
- Coordinate patient plan of care with multidisciplinary Kellogg Cancer Care Center, medical and radiation oncologists, and physician assistants
- Provide health education for patient and families regarding benign and malignant cancers
- Collaborate on planning/problem‑solving solutions while working directly with Head & Neck Oncologist, Thyroid Specialist, and physician assistant
- Clinical management of patients as directed by the physician – including nurse triage, ensuring prior work‑up results obtained, pre‑charting, post‑operative calls, DME, and FMLA
