Endeavor Health, a fully integrated healthcare delivery system serving a 4.2‑million‑resident area across six northeast Illinois counties, is inviting applications for a full‑time Director, Philanthropy at its North Shore Hospital Foundation in Evanston, IL. The role reports directly to the Associate Executive Director, Strategic Philanthropy (North Shore).
Hourly Pay Range $46.79 – $72.52, adjusted for experience and expertise.
The Director, Philanthropy will spearhead the Foundation’s major gift program, securing five‑ to seven‑figure contributions from individuals, grateful patients, family foundations, and other major prospects. The successful candidate will partner with the Prospect Development team, physician partners, and internal stakeholders to identify, qualify, and steward donors, ensuring alignment with Endeavor Health’s clinical and patient‑care mission.
What You Will Do- Collaborate with the Prospect Development team, physicians, and other colleagues to vet prospects, qualify opportunities, and build a robust pipeline.
- Guide donors and prospects through the fundraising cycle, partnering with physicians and clinical leaders to cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors in priority areas.
- Activate board members and volunteers in peer‑to‑peer fundraising, supporting outreach, engagement, and solicitation efforts, with a focus on six‑ and seven‑figure gifts.
- Engage donors and prospects at strategic events to strengthen relationships; own event strategy and collaborate with the events team to showcase priorities, attract the right audience, and advance solicitations.
- Apply best‑in‑class fundraising practices, grounded in data intelligence and donor‑centered approaches, including timely reporting, data entry, strategic discussions, and staying current on philanthropic trends.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree preferred. - Certification: Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), preferred.
- Experience: 7+ years of progressive success in senior fundraising roles, ideally major gifts within healthcare or related complex institutions.
- Skills & Qualities:
- Proven record of closing five‑ and six‑figure gifts.
- Strategic thinker, collaborative partner, action‑oriented results driver.
- Strong judgment, emotional intelligence, and proactive communication in a matrixed environment.
- Comfortable working with high‑level stakeholders, donors, physicians, and board members, effectively supporting peer‑to‑peer fundraising.
- Knowledge of donor development best practices, emerging philanthropic trends, and data‑centered approaches.
- Customer‑service mindset, excellent written, oral, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Project management skills: fast‑paced, results‑oriented, meeting multiple deadlines.
- Adaptability in an entrepreneurial setting; ability to build new programs in a changing environment.
- Discretion in handling confidential information.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel);
Salesforce NPSP or similar CRM experience preferred.
