Objective of Position

The Private Banker is responsible for building and managing relationships with high-net-worth clients, delivering customized banking, lending, and cash management solutions. This role partners with internal business lines as well as external sources to identify opportunities, expand client relationships, and deepen product engagement across the Byline platform.

Duties And Responsibilities Client Relationship Management & Business Development
  • Build and expand a book of high-net-worth clients through proactive prospecting, referrals, and deepening existing relationships.
  • Serve as the primary advisor for clients’ comprehensive banking, credit, and liquidity needs.
  • Partner with internal teams to deliver holistic financial solutions and enhance client satisfaction.
  • Profile client bases and identify opportunities to grow cash management, lending, and deposit relationships.
  • Maintain an active pipeline to achieve private banking growth and revenue goals.
  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of clients’ businesses, wealth sources, and long-term financial objectives.
  • Anticipate life or business events with financial implications and proactively deliver guidance and solutions.
  • Represent Byline Bank in the community, cultivating relationships and referrals that expand the private client base.
Collaboration & Internal Partnership
  • Work closely with Commercial Lenders and Wealth Management advisors to build product awareness and integrate banking solutions across channels.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on Private Banking products and services, including lending, cash management, and tailored credit facilities.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Private Banker to ensure smooth onboarding and service delivery.
  • Provide training and ongoing support to Commercial Lenders and Wealth Management Advisors on the private banking product suite.
  • Develop and execute product marketing and outreach strategies.
Credit & Risk Management
  • Evaluate, structure, and execute credit solutions, including residential mortgages, home equity lines, securities-based lending, and customized credit facilities.
  • Ensure sound credit judgment and adherence to all regulatory, compliance, and risk management standards.
  • Maintain accurate client documentation and communication records in the CRM platform.
  • Uphold the highest standards of ethics, confidentiality, and professionalism in every client interaction.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree or professional designation preferred.
  • 7+ years of successful lending and business development experience within private banking.
  • Strong understanding of credit products, including residential and commercial lending, home equity, and securities-based loans.
  • Proven record of new business origination and growth in the high-net-worth segment.
  • Deep knowledge of finance, investments, wealth planning, and banking concepts.
  • Strong relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent business development, negotiation, and consultative selling abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver compelling presentations and communicate effectively, fostering strong relationships with affluent clients through exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated poise, professionalism, and discretion in all client and internal interactions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM/banking systems.
Physical Demands/Work Environment

Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office equipment. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices.
