College Preparation Program:
Admissions Reader
Start/End Date: As early as January 5 – As late as June 26, 2026
Location: Northwestern University, Remote
Supervised by: Director of Summer Session
Time Commitment: 20-40 hours per week
Compensation: $18 per hour
Position Summary:
Along with the Summer Session Director and Program Coordinator, the Admission Advisor assists the Admissions Committee in evaluating applications that have been started for our College Preparation Program and assisting applicants with completing the application. The work will average 20-40 hours per week and will include reading applications (typically done at your home/off campus) and regular Zoom meetings with the Director of Summer Session.

Description:
The Northwestern College Preparation Program (CPP) offers academically advanced high school students from across the US and abroad the opportunity to enroll in one of two academic program options: undergraduate courses for credit, and certificate IN FOCUS seminars. Participants experience college life and academics in a safe and supportive environment, which prepares them for college success in their first years. CPP students may take a variety of 100- and 200-level Northwestern courses to earn college credit, which may be transferred to the university in which they ultimately enroll.

- Participate in mandatory virtual training.
- Review and evaluate approximately 10–100 applications per week.
- Exercise professional judgment in reviewing, evaluating, and recommending applicants for admission using established guidelines.
- Review applications started and email applicants to assist them in completing the application.
- Advise students about the best program/course.
- Assist Program Coordinator and Program Assistant with summer program prep.
- A bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Higher education admissions experience or similar work experience.
- Working knowledge of academic programs, including curricula and admissions requirements.
- Knowledge of the Northwestern environment.
- Familiarity with NU or higher education CRM systems (SES, CLSS, RADIUS, etc.).
- Previous experience working with high school students.
