Minimum Hiring Annual Salary: $83,700.00 Maximum Hiring Annual Salary: $90,396.00

Job Description

The Network Engineer drives the design, implementation, and maintenance of Aims Community College’s mission‑critical network infrastructure.

This position will lead strategic planning, design, capacity forecasting, and the development of network technology roadmaps to support institutional innovation. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of network hardware and software, from researching and recommending vendor solutions to performing complex troubleshooting and ensuring rigorous security compliance.

Network Planning, Design, and Implementation
  • Lead strategic planning efforts by researching, planning, designing, and implementing technical network solutions and frameworks for local and wide area networks and infrastructure.
  • Develop technology roadmaps.
  • Develop test and implementation plans.
  • Ensure compatibility of solutions with all layers and types of network technologies in use.
  • Capacity planning and forecasting for the College’s networks and infrastructure.
Network Administration
  • Monitor functionality, troubleshoot, or upgrade as necessary.
  • Responsible for Windows and Linux network configuration. System diagnostics and troubleshooting, including analysis of ongoing performance, system slowdowns, and bottlenecks.
  • Monitoring the health of day‑to‑day operations of networks, servers, systems, and all other mission‑critical IT systems, as well as vulnerability patch management.
  • Check all monitoring systems for issues daily. Create tickets and resolve issues as needed.
  • Lift, install, and move servers and devices in the data center and at other sites as needed.
  • Required to participate in a rotating schedule of IT on‑call coverage and maintenance outside normal business hours.
  • Required travel to our satellite campuses as needed.
Policy and Purchasing
  • Evaluate and recommend technology and equipment purchases.
  • Research, recommend, and develop policies, procedures, and standards in accordance with the College’s security practices.
Documentation
  • Document processes, procedures, equipment details, configurations, software specifics, network or systems administration notes.
  • Document any job‑related functions in the departmental knowledge base for the Network, Infrastructure, and Communication Systems team.
