Position Title: Crisis and Support Services Advocate

Supervisor: Programs Director

Location: Main office

Schedule: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm during training;
Shifts may vary after training

Employment status: 40 hours/week;

Position Summary:
  • Work as an integral part of the Hope & Safety Alliance team to provide survivor-centered advocacy to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, intimate partner violence, and stalking in Lane County.
  • The Crisis and Support Services Advocate’s primary responsibilities include:
    • Answering Crisis & Support Line calls and responding to Web Chat messages.
    • Provide a wide variety of support and advocacy strategies to survivors including:
      • Emotional support
      • Empathetic listening
      • Safety planning, resource information
      • Community referrals
      • System navigation, and case management
      • Ensuring delivery of consistent, trauma-informed, and inclusive services for all survivors
      • Providing or arranging transportation for survivors
      • Coordinating emergency shelters and providing in-person delivery of food and items to clients
      • Providing domestic violence education to survivors and community members
      • Assisting team members and other advocates with the completion of tasks
      • Collaborating and networking with local organizations and community partners
      • Completing all necessary paperwork; documenting and updating statistics
      • Attended all meetings and training as assigned
    • Ensuring delivery of consistent, trauma-informed, and inclusive services for all survivors.

  • You understand the impacts of trauma and the importance of delivering collaborative, trauma-informed services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
  • You share Hope & Safety Alliance’s commitment to social change, equity, and inclusion, and are united in our vision of building a future free from violence and oppression.
Responsibilities:
  • Answer the crisis line in a courteous and professional manner, and provide the following services:
    • Advocacy and safety planning
    • Emotional support, peer counseling, and crisis intervention
    • Referrals, resources, and information about community partner agencies
    • Assistance determining client priorities and needs
  • Take Crisis line shifts and be a part of the agency’s 24-hour Back-up rotation.
  • Assist clients with housing and basic needs.
  • Assist with advocacy in our confidential shelter and may also respond as part of the emergency mobile response team, providing or arranging transportation for survivors, coordinating emergency shelter, and providing in-person delivery of food and items to survivors.
  • Provide information on domestic violence dynamics, healthy relationships, and parenting.
  • Collect and record demographic information and enter stats into database for tracking purposes.
