Meat & Seafood Team Leader (Department Manager) at Whole Foods Market
This position offers an hourly pay range of $25.10/hr - $42.50/hr
, depending on skill and experience.
Responsibilities include leading the Meat & Seafood team, managing daily operations, ensuring profitability, controlling expenses, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects. Lead, develop, and mentor associate team leaders and team members.
Responsibilities- Set and achieve the highest standards of retail execution.
- Build a positive work environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale.
- Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel team members to build a high‑performance team and minimize turnover.
- Model and deliver outstanding customer service.
- Follow through on customer questions, requests, and resolve concerns as needed.
- Maximize productivity and efficiency through proper scheduling.
- Develop and maintain creative store layout and product merchandising.
- Achieve sales, margin, expense, and labor targets.
- Maintain proper product assortment, merchandising, and inventory control.
- Follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
- Ensure team members operate and sanitize all equipment safely and properly.
- Keep all cases and shelves clean, well‑stocked, and properly rotated.
- Demonstrate advanced product knowledge; maintain awareness of new products and incorporate them into the product mix.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Basic to intermediate proficiency with computer applications and programs including email, Microsoft Office, and operations‑related applications.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- 2+ years of leadership experience.
