Position OverviewThe LaManna lab in the Department of Biological Sciences at Marquette University seeks five enthusiastic research technicians to conduct forest‑survey work in the Western Cascade Mountains of Oregon. The role involves mapping, measuring, and identifying trees, plants, and seedlings along an elevational gradient, assessing tree health and mortality, and planting seedlings for a large‑scale field experiment. Work will be carried out at the Andrews Experimental Forest, a National Science Foundation Long‑Term Ecological Research site.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Map, measure, and identify trees, plants, and seedlings using GPS and forest‑survey equipment.
- Assess tree health and causes of tree mortality.
- Plant seedlings for large‑scale field experiments.
- Record and analyze ecological data collected in the field.
- Work outdoors in a scenic location.
Skills and Abilities
- University degree in biology or a related field.
- Experience working outdoors and measuring ecological processes.
- Enthusiasm for research and teamwork.
Skills and Abilities
- Experience identifying Pacific Northwest trees and herbaceous plants.
