RESPONSIBLE TO: Senior Manager of Programs

HOURS: 40 hours/week

CLASS: Full-time/Non-exempt

WAGE: $21 - $23 per hour

BENEFITS: Eligible for health, vision, and dental insurance the first of the month following 30 days of employment with other benefits eligibility after a 90-day mutual introductory period is completed. Eligible for FFLC-sponsored benefits (e.g. paid time off benefits such as holidays, floating days, vacation and sick).

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Food for Lane County (FFLC) is seeking a dynamic individual capable of taking on multiple responsibilities and coordinating several programs and projects, as well as the ability to form new partnerships that are in line with our mission of alleviating hunger in Lane County. This position coordinates many aspects of the Summer Food Program (SFP) and supports other year-round programs within FFLC including but not limited to:
Senior Foods, rural deliveries, youth snack packs and other food distribution programs.

PRIMARY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordination of the Summer Food Program (April – September) including but not limited to:
    Assisting with screening, recruiting and hiring seasonal staff; training employees to be compliant with United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Oregon Department of Education (ODE), Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), and Food for Lane County policies and procedures; support the meal site pre-program planning and day to day service operations.
  • Coordinate supportive activities for the Summer Food Program with community partners including those that enhance the meal site experience for children and families.
  • Perform administrative duties including collecting and compiling documentation and data, reviewing information for accuracy, contributing to reports, answering phone calls and emails, and responding to public inquiries and referrals.
  • Schedule and oversee food pack up and distribution activities for multiple programs including delivery of food to program participants.
  • Coordinate volunteer participation in program activities including set up, training, support, deliveries and follow-up.
  • Work with FFLC’s Operations Team to manage and track inventory and coordinate food purchasing for various programs.
  • Check in regularly with supervisor to discuss program activity, report problems, and resolve issues.
  • Apply problem solving and critical thinking skills to support daily operations, assist with project management, and achieve program goals.
  • Promote a positive work environment and foster an inclusive and safe environment that demonstrates the values of compassion, inclusion, and collaboration for volunteers and participants.
  • Ensure program success by meeting all required deadlines for applications and reporting; maintaining accurate records, keeping documentation organized and up to date for program audits; supporting volunteers to have successful experiences, and meeting food safety standards.
OTHER TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Represent Food for Lane County (FFLC) to the public with knowledge and respect
  • Attend all staff meetings and other required program meetings
  • Uphold FFLC values of compassion, inclusion, and collaboration
  • Assist with community outreach and advertising
  • Occasional public speaking and communication with media
  • Engage in ongoing program planning
  • Perform other tasks as requested by supervisor
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel) software and PC computers
  • Clear and effective communication with diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple programs in an organized and effective manner
  • Ability to multitask and work with many interruptions in an open office environment
  • Ability to manage stress, be flexible, and respond to unexpected changes
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team and independently
  • Ability to effectively engage with public partners, community organizations, parents and youth
  • Ability to learn to drive a forklift and delivery van
  • Ability to work in all types of weather
  • Ability to repetitively lift up to 40 lbs. and stand for extended periods of time
