Greenhill Humane Society operates the largest animal shelter in Lane County Oregon, providing care and shelter for animals in need. With a focus on promoting the human-animal bond, Greenhill offers adoption services, lost and found programs, crisis care boarding, TNR, disaster reponse, and a variety of resources for pet owners. Committed to saving lives, Greenhill Humane Society annually cares for over 5,000 dogs, cats, and small animals.
Role DescriptionThe Outreach Coordinator plays a key role in promoting Greenhill’s mission through community outreach activities including giving presentations, leading shelter tours, serving as a media spokesperson, staffing outreach booths at community events, and providing event support for Greenhill’s signature events. The ideal candidate is passionate about animal welfare, has excellent communication skills, and is comfortable engaging with people in person, over the phone and through writing.
The position requires early morning, nighttime, and weekend activities.
- Serve as a public-facing representative for the organization through media features such as Pet of the Week/Month, Shelter Spotlights, and TV, radio, and print interviews.
- Coordinate with Communications and Outreach leadership to prepare animals, messaging, and materials for media appearances and community storytelling.
- Build and grow community partnerships with businesses, groups, and individuals interested in fundraising or hosting events.
- Plan, prepare for, and represent the organization at community events, off-site adoption events, festivals, volunteer fairs, and third-party fundraisers.
- Support and co-host signature fundraising and outreach events, including Bark in the Park and An Evening for Animals.
- Deliver engaging presentations to civic groups, businesses, schools, and community organizations, promoting humane education and the human–animal bond.
- Lead volunteer orientations and provide on-site tours for volunteers, supporters, and community members.
- Independently manage outreach activities, including coordinating logistics, transporting supplies and animals, and serving as the sole staff representative when needed.
