Looking Glass is Hiring Relief Street Outreach Workers to Join Our New Roads Team!

The New Roads Urban & Relief Program is a drop-in shelter for youth, ages 11-21, to seek services related to basic needs, transitional housing assistance, skill-building, and support in gaining employment. Our drop-in programs focus on creating long-term solutions to improve the quality of each client's life through individual case management.

We are currently recruiting for a Relief Street Outreach Worker to join our dynamic team. This position will provide shift coverage at our Urban and Rural drop-in programs. Our Urban program is in Eugene and our Rural program is in Cottage Grove. The pay rate for this position is $21.10/hour and the relief status requires a minimum of 50 hours worked per month.

The Street Outreach Worker is responsible for providing education, prevention services, and referral information regarding issues of substance use, sexual abuse, domestic violence, mental health, and other issues relevant to homeless and runaway youth in and around Eugene. You will assist in crisis intervention, peer counseling, and de-escalation as needed. You will aid with classroom presentations, outreach to community groups, and participate in regular street outreach shifts.

People who succeed in this role have a passion for helping youth and are able to relate to teens from all different backgrounds, values, and cultures. You must be a positive youth mentor and role model who can demonstrate strong boundaries. You must be able to maintain confidentiality and handle stressful situations.

Essential Functions
  • Provides advocacy services to street youth in the drop-in center and on the street. These youth may be experiencing challenges around sexual assault, domestic violence, mental illness, and drug use.
  • Provides referrals to New Roads case management and educational services, other Looking Glass programs, and community agencies.
  • Provides coverage of New Roads drop-in center (Urban & Rural) including food preparation, greeting youth entering the drop-in center, answering phones and assisting youth in scheduling appointments with staff.
  • Provide some coverage in the early mornings and/or evenings and weekends at a group living facility with up to 4 residents.

Salary: $21.10 per hour
