Rank: Assistant Clinical Professor

Annual Basis: 9 Month

Position Summary

Early Childhood CARES is seeking qualified applicants for its open Speech Language Pathologists pool. Speech Language Pathologists provide educationally–based direct speech-language therapy services to children from birth to school age as specified on children’s Individualized Family Service Plans. This position will provide instruction and consultation to approximately 40 children. Speech Language Pathologist faculty positions are non-tenure-track, renewable positions that include both academic-year and summer appointments.

Appointments are renewable annually.

Responsibilities
  • Work in homes, preschools, and clinic settings to provide speech-language pathology services.
  • Travel to locations throughout Lane County; driving may be required and eligibility to be a University of Oregon certified driver is necessary as driving is part of the essential functions.
  • Interact effectively with children, including activities at child-sized tables and chairs (bending, kneeling, or sitting as needed).
  • Enroll in the Central Background Registry.
  • Maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
Minimum Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Oregon Board of Examiners Speech-Language Pathology License.

  • Compliance with state and federal laws governing EI/ECSE service provision.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, complete work timely, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Professional and clear communication in-person and in writing.
  • Strong collaboration with sites, colleagues, and supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient in Spanish.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP); will consider applicants completing Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
  • Experience developing, instructing, and implementing speech and language programs for preschool-age children from birth to school age.
  • Experience with evaluation and monitoring of speech and language skills and development.
  • Experience providing instruction, consultation, and support to families, teachers, classroom staff, and other care providers.
  • Experience developing and monitoring IFSPs, including writing speech and language goals and outcomes.
  • Experience training and supervising staff.
  • Experience teaching small group activities with children and parents.
  • Experience with augmentative and alternative communication.
