The City of Eugene Public Works Engineering Division is recruiting for a Civil Engineer 1/2. The Civil Engineer 1/2 performs complex professional engineering work in the planning, investigation, and design of public works projects. The successful candidate will be involved in a wide range of infrastructure projects with a focus on transportation-related topics. As a member of the Transportation Engineering Team, they will provide technical expertise to support the Capital Projects Design and Construction Teams. Candidates with transportation experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
Depending upon the knowledge, skills, and abilities possessed by the successful applicant, this position may be filled as either a Civil Engineer 1 or Civil Engineer 2.
Salary Range:
Civil Engineer 1: $42.04 - $47.62 / hourly; $87,443.20 - $99,049.60 / annually
Civil Engineer 2: $44.83 - $60.52 / hourly; $93,246.40 - $ / annually

Work Schedule:
The City of Eugene is shifting to a work environment of primarily in office work to foster collaboration and connection. New employees must work on site full time for the duration of their probationary period (typically 12 months). Following the probationary period employees may utilize a flexible working environment one day a week per the Alternative Work Policy.
To be considered for this position you must attach a cover letter and a current résumé highlighting relevant civil engineering,
project management, and transportation related experience with month(s)/year(s) of employment and duties relevant to the posted position.
Collaborates on the design and preparation of plans, specifications, schedules and cost estimates for public works projects with a focus on street improvements, bike paths, traffic signals, illumination, traffic calming, safety projects, striping, and signing.
Performs traffic studies and analyzes the transportation system for safety and capacity issues using a data-driven approach. May include using modeling software, performing crash analyses, analyzing multimodal activities, and assessing intersection level of service.
Provides transportation-focused technical and professional engineering expertise, coordination, management and/or support for the planning, design, and construction of capital improvement projects.
Reviews public improvement plans to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and City ordinances, specifications, and codes.
Acts as lead representative for public works projects to other City Departments, Divisions, Sections, and with outside public agencies, consultants, engineers, developers, contractors, and the public.
