Classification: Part‑Time Faculty (Contracted)

Scheduled Start: Upon hire, based on department need

Salary: Hourly – starting range for part‑time faculty is Step 1 – Step 10. The Part‑Time Faculty benefits package includes generous contributions toward medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, long‑term disability, and paid sick leave. Division Information

Our Social Science Division is seeking to expand its part‑time faculty GIS pool for online and in‑classroom courses. The primary responsibility of the GIS instructor is to provide quality teaching for a full range of community college GIS courses, including Digital Earth, GIS 1, and GIS 2.

Applicant Pool and Review Process

This is an application pool posting for the academic year 2025‑2026. The first review date will be based on term needs, and applications may be reviewed as early as 10 business days after posting. Subsequent review dates are based on department needs. Your application will remain in the pool until a decision is made on your candidacy.

Application Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Education: Master’s degree in Geography or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Experience: Experience with data collection, analysis, and mapping in ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Desktop, and related analytic and mapping programs.
  • Successful applicants must pass a criminal background check.
  • Must work and reside in the state of Oregon.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching experience in GIS with community‑college students.
  • Experience teaching online.
  • Experience with learning management systems.
Position Purpose and Essential Functions
  • Support student learning through compliance with college policies, accountability for leave time, timesheet completion, textbook ordering, and other administrative functions.
  • Maintain currency in discipline and innovate in teaching.
  • Participate collegially in faculty performance evaluation.
  • Maintain and post office hours in alignment with college expectations.
  • Maintain presence on campus for instruction and student needs, as outlined in College Operations Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintain student records, attendance, grades, and related documentation; ensure a safe, quality classroom or lab.
  • Problem‑solve and manage sensitive information with understanding of FERPA, maintaining confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Curriculum Delivery:

  • Provide high‑quality classroom instruction.
  • Create, develop, and revise course content and materials.
  • Establish learning outcomes, assess outcomes, and use results to inform improvements.
  • Incorporate college values and promote a respectful learning environment.
  • Develop and deliver all syllabi and course materials.
  • Consult with students on course materials.
  • Deliver curriculum in traditional and online formats.

Online Teaching and Student Support:

  • Engage within the online course environment to ensure regular and substantive interaction.
  • Monitor student progress and provide coaching and assistance.
