The Department of Special Education and Clinical Sciences is one of four academic departments in the College of Education (COE). It is comprised of three major programs:
Communication Disorders and Sciences (CDS), School Psychology (SPSY), and Special Education (SPED). The Department offers degrees from undergraduate to master's and doctoral, as well as licensure and endorsement programs. The Special Education and Clinical Sciences Department is involved in collaborative efforts among all COE departments and institutes to support research across the College, outreach activities, and core requirements for the master's and doctoral programs.
Position Summary
The University of Oregon's Communication Disorders and Sciences program in the College of Education seeks to create a pool of qualified candidates to fill periodic instructional and supervision vacancies. Positions are limited duration appointments, potentially renewable for up to a total of three years.
Clinical supervisors will provide clinical instruction and/or supervision in clinical or professionally-related community education/service settings to students in the Communication Disorders and Sciences program. Clinical Assistant Professors/supervisors focus their training and instruction on the practical application of skills necessary to engage in a given profession. They are expected to demonstrate and share the expertise of their practice and to contribute to coordination roles within these settings or for the program.
Instructors teach primarily undergraduate level courses, and lecturers teach primarily graduate level courses in the Communication Disorders and Sciences program. Instructional duties include course preparation, teaching, preparation and evaluation of student assignments and exams, and maintenance of office hours.
Topic areas for instruction and supervision may include hearing/hearing screening, augmentative and alternative communication, brain injury and cognitive rehabilitation, acquired adult language and motor speech disorders, speech fluency, communication delays and disorders, and interventions for speech sound production, using oral and written language, preliteracy skills, reading comprehension, and social interaction, and other related areas.
