Department Information

Our Business, Technology, and Trades Division at Lane Community College seeks to expand its pool of part-time faculty to teach apprenticeship courses. Instructors must have a passion for their subject and teaching styles that support student success. Instructors are responsible for following Division and College procedures in support of teaching and learning.

Required Qualifications
  • Education:

    Associate of Applied Science or Oregon Journeyman Card (as appropriate for the trade).
  • Experience:

    Two (2) years of experience in the related trade.
  • Conditions of Employment:
    Criminal background check required; must work and reside in Oregon while performing work.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Construction Industry (preferred).
  • Demonstrable, real-world millwright experience; supervisory or teach-related experience; familiarity with apprenticeship programs and standards.
  • Language:
    Multilingual applicants welcome.
Position Purpose

The Apprenticeship Program Part-time Faculty position is responsible for apprenticeship-related training courses. The instructor provides quality teaching in multiple formats (in-person and online), delivering varied lecture and lab components as appropriate.

Essential Functions
  • Provide quality instruction in all delivery methods and formats within the Apprenticeship Program.
  • Participate in student retention and completion initiatives.
  • Align curricula with state and college requirements and industry standards; ensure compliance with Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee standards.
  • Plan, write, and administer Apprenticeship curricula to meet BOLI standards and related training requirements across learning environments.
  • Stay current with state and federal code updates and adjust curriculum accordingly.
  • Prepare class/lab materials prior to start to ensure student success.
Online Teaching and Student Support
  • Engage in regular and substantive interaction (RSI) in online environments.
  • Monitor progress and provide coaching and feedback; respond to student inquiries promptly.
  • Ensure materials meet Section 508 guidelines; use effective online teaching strategies.
Equity and Inclusion
  • Demonstrate Lane’s core value of social justice; apply equity and inclusion in all interactions.
  • Support ADA compliance and accessibility within the program; mentor and model cultural competency.
