Division of Data, Access, Research & Teaching Services (DARTS)The Division of Data, Access, Research, & Teaching Services (DARTS) delivers a broad range of services and programs designed to support the research, teaching, and learning needs of the University of Oregon community. DARTS encompasses units and teams that provide:
- Circulation and access to collections
- Collection development and maintenance
- Instruction in information, visual, and AI literacy
- Research support
- Specialized support in research and learning spaces
- Data services
- Support for scholarly communication and digital publishing
DARTS also manages operations for five branch library locations: the Design Library, Portland Library, Price Science Commons & Research Library (PSC), Mathematics Library, and the Loyd and Dorothy Rippey Library at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology.
The division’s mission is to advance student success, faculty research, and teaching excellence by:
- Facilitating access to information resources and specialized research spaces
- Building and maintaining collections
- Delivering innovative engagement programs
- Providing instruction and consultation in information, data, and digital literacy
- Supporting the adoption of Open Educational Resources (OER) and the provision of affordable course materials
Within DARTS, subject liaison librarians are assigned to academic departments and work as part of an interdisciplinary team to deliver teaching and liaison services tailored to the needs of faculty and students. Each liaison is supervised by a head librarian who also serves as a subject liaison.
