Esri Canada has an exceptional opportunity for an Industry Manager to join our Utilities department.

Reporting to the Director, Utilities, this national position is to provide effective Industry Management and Business Development support in the water utility industry which includes water, wastewater and stormwater. The incumbent will serve as an industry expert, work closely with different stakeholders, including Esri Canada’s strategic consulting teams, marketing and sales teams to provide industry insights and perspective on strategic engagements.

This role will be based remotely in Canada.

A Day in the Life of an Industry Manager at Esri Canada:

  • Proactively work with account managers and industry leadership to create new business opportunities by working with and supporting account teams, helping guide customer needs analysis and selling solutions into existing and prospective customers in the water utility industry.
  • Lead and ‘own’ the development of the water utilities industry business plan, growth and go-to-market strategies for the industry, programs and campaigns, in collaboration with managers and other Esri Canada leadership.
  • Support and collaborate with different stakeholders across Canada on account planning, presentations and demonstrations.
  • Establish and develop solid working relationships with senior executives within the industry; liaise with Esri Inc. and 3rd-party suppliers to ensure proper product messaging and positioning is delivered to customers.
  • Advise customers on business requirements and best practices, architectures, products selection, and release planning with specific focus on the Utilities market.
  • Leverage existing ArcGIS industry solutions and develop knowledge related to network management capabilities using the Utility Network to demonstrate the alignment of ArcGIS products and solutions to customer business needs
  • Assist customers and business partners in the development of their strategies to integrate GIS-based solutions and address their professional services’ needs and training requirements.
  • Lead in the planning, development, and delivery of events, collateral and communications specific to the use and growth of Esri solutions for the water utility market. Support the development and execution of Esri Canada’s business plan and growth strategies within the water utility market.
  • Play a key and effective role in the planning, coordination and preparation of proposals (e.g. RFP, RFI and RFQ responses), presentations, benchmarks, customer information inquiries with a sense of urgency and accuracy. Provide guidance to Technical Solution Specialists on what to communicate during customer demonstrations.
  • Be engaged with applicable industry associations and working groups and participate in key industry events representing Esri Canada.
  • Engage with Sales and Marketing Teams to perform regular key account reviews and follow-ups.
  • Assist with business case development, ROI/benefits analysis and validate estimation for proposal submissions as required.
  • Participate in annual Industry Planning to ensure alignment with future growth plans related to the team and the company.

What you bring to the team:

  • 7-10 years of proven experience working within the water utility industry managing or providing asset information solutions.
  • Proven success in selling solutions into the water utility industry to large and small utilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with customers at all levels including senior decision-making levels.
  • Must be able to travel in Canada as well as occasional travel to the US (up to 15% of time).
  • A university degree in Engineering, GIS, Computer Science or related field is required. A specialization in, or a graduate degree/diploma in GIS or an MBA would be an asset.
