Position Summary
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, t his position is responsible for a variety of tasks within the lab department and provides assistance as required. This position is required to work a twelve-hour shift schedule.
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include a wide range of activities including, but not limited to:
- Responsible for ensuring coal quality specifications are met.
- Perform laboratory procedures and analysis on coal, char and activated carbon samples to compare product quality to customer specifications.
- Provide the required summary reports of product quality to management and operations to direct plant process adjustments.
- Perform analysis as required for other areas of the plant and mine operation.
- Provide additional support to the plant and mine with other assigned duties as required.
Typical Physical Demands
Requires prolonged sitting, walking, bending, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Requires constant data input for extended periods of time without leaving the work area. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal hearing and vision and the ability to travel to field locations.
Education/Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Post-secondary diploma in Chemical Engineering Technology or related field.
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
