Drill Laborer

The Drill crew Laborer supports the drilling crew by performing physical and technical tasks related to underground utility installation. This position assists the Drill Operator and Drill Locator with equipment handling, jobsite setup, safety compliance, and general construction duties to ensure efficient and safe drilling operations. This position is open to candidates living anywhere in the United States. The role requires travel to project sites nationwide on a full-time basis.

• Assist Drill Operator and Locator during drilling operations
• Set up and break down drill sites, including entry/exit pits and tooling
• Handle drill rods, reamers, and pipe safely
• Mix and manage drilling fluids (bentonite or additives)
• Perform potholing/day lighting using hand tools or vacuum excavation
• Install conduit, pipe, or casing
• Conduct site cleanup and restoration
• Maintain tools and equipment
• Perform traffic control duties when required
• Follow OSHA, DOT, and company safety policies
• Identify hazards and report unsafe conditions
• Load and unload materials and equipment
• Support other crew members as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Construction or utility experience a plus
• Willingness to learn HDD operations
• Strong work ethic and team attitude
• Willingness to travel or work overtime as needed

Preferred Skills

• Underground utility or directional drilling experience
• OSHA 10 certification
• Flagging or traffic control certification
• Railroad or roadway safety training
• Mechanical aptitude

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors near heavy equipment and live utilities in various weather conditions and on active construction sites
• Able to lift and move up to 50 lbs
• Prolonged periods of driving, walking, standing, bending, and using hands/tools
• Exposure to noise, dust, mud, and weather
• Must wear required PPE on job sites and adhere to safety protocols
