About Our Social Worker Roles

We are an adult social care service that wants to see citizens of Essex have as much choice and control over the way they live as possible. We think everyone should have the chance to live a full and fulfilling life with people they love and care about, doing what matters to them and living in a place they can call home.

We are determined to provide the right support so that everyone can maintain or achieve independence and we are proud to be working to make these ambitions a reality.

Our Social Workers work alongside people, families and carers to help them think through what might help them live their lives in the way that works best for them. We do this within the statutory Care Act framework. Our conversations are framed as ‘assessments’, ‘reviews’, ‘support planning’ and ‘safeguarding’, but our aim is always to listen, understand what matters and work with individuals to think through how this might be achieved.

North Essex covers our offices in Colchester and Clacton. It is a diverse area with rural, coastal and urban communities, all with unique challenges. Essex County Council works closely with partners in North Essex, and those joining teams in this area are uniquely positioned to be increasingly involved in partnership projects across local authorities and the NHS.
