- Manage a defined caseload and work with children, young people and families to achieve positive change and improved outcomes across Child Protection, Child in Need and Children Looked After; including enquiry, assessment, direct work and review.
- Undertake incoming assessments and short-term intervention work with families (three months’ intervention) and work with children from birth to 18 years old.
- Collaborate with partners to assess immediate risk (S47 enquiries) and work with police and other agencies; transfer cases to Family Support and Protection Teams when longer-term intervention is required.
- Support stepped-down care to Family Solutions as part of the Early Help Offer when a social work service is not required after assessment and brief intervention.
- Diploma or degree in social work, CQSW, CSS or equivalent; registration with Social Work England as a registered Social Worker.
- Demonstrable capability of practice in line with professional standards (e.g., Professional Capability Framework, Knowledge & Skills Statement).
- Ability to apply social work knowledge with emotional intelligence, analytical skills and confident handling of challenging social and family situations.
- Good working knowledge of information technology and case recording systems (e.g., Word, social work case systems).
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends very occasionally as required.
The role requires mobility around a wide operational area in Essex and beyond, with driving license and car or alternative mobility arrangements essential. Flexibility to work outside normal office hours as needed to best meet family needs.
