Location: Essex & Hybrid (2 days per week in office)

The RoleWe are seeking a Junior SQL Database Administrator
. In this role, you will work alongside experienced DBAs to support and maintain the organisation’s SQL Server environments, helping to ensure high performance, reliability, and availability.
This is an ideal position for someone at the start of their DBA career who is eager to gain hands‑on experience in a production environment and grow their skills in database management, performance tuning, and potentially cloud-based technologies in the future. The role offers a hybrid working model, with 2 days per week in the office.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with monitoring SQL Server performance and availability
- Support routine database maintenance tasks, including backups, restores, and index maintenance
- Help identify and troubleshoot database performance and reliability issues
- Assist in database builds, configuration, and deployments
- Support disaster recovery and high availability solutions
- Maintain data integrity and security standards
- Work with senior DBAs on performance tuning and optimisation tasks
- Assist with upgrades, patching, and environment improvements
- Document processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- Understanding of backup and recovery concepts
- Awareness of performance tuning and indexing principles
- Experience gained through junior roles, placements, projects, or training is welcome
- Exposure to SQL Server development or cloud platforms (e.g., Azure SQL) is advantageous but not essential
- Strong willingness to learn and develop as a DBA
- Competitive salary of £40,000 – £50,000 DOE
- Hybrid working model: 2 days per week in the office
