10 Recruitment are partnering with a well-established and fast-growing fuel and oil distribution company who are now recruiting for an IT Support Tech Lead. This is a key hire, offering you a unique chance to lead the IT support function and drive strategic IT initiatives.

This position is ideal for a technically strong IT professional with proven leadership experience, ready to combine line management responsibility with hands‑on technical delivery. You’ll lead the IT support team while remaining operationally involved across 1st to 3rd line support, taking ownership of IT infrastructure, end‑user services, and internal procedures. Key Responsibilities

  • Line manage and lead the IT support team, providing day‑to‑day direction, performance management, coaching, and development.
  • Oversee and actively participate in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line support, acting as an escalation point for complex technical issues.
  • Manage IT support for infrastructure components, including servers, storage systems, and networking devices.
  • Administer and support Microsoft Intune, including device management, policies, security baselines, and application deployment.
  • Ensure data security by implementing and maintaining robust security measures, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption protocols.
  • Lead vulnerability and patch management activities to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities in IT systems and applications, with support from managed SOC.
  • Monitor and maintain network reliability by troubleshooting connectivity issues and optimising network performance.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop and enforce IT security policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular security audits and assessments to identify potential risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Provide hands‑on technical guidance and mentorship to the IT support team, assisting with escalations and knowledge sharing.
  • Document IT infrastructure configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to maintain an accurate and up‑to‑date knowledge base.
  • Lead the day‑to‑day activities of the IT department, creating a culture of continuous improvement and managing a programme of change across systems and processes.
  • Support the senior management team across the business where IT plays an enabling role to achieve their goals.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement new technologies to enhance efficiency and productivity across the organisation.

About You

  • 5+ years’ experience working across 1st to 3rd line IT support in a commercial environment.
  • Proven line management or team leadership experience within an IT support function.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Intune and modern endpoint management.
  • Expertise with Microsoft technologies, including Active Directory and Office 365.
  • Solid networking skills, including setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Comfortable balancing people management responsibilities with hands‑on technical work.
  • Ability to work autonomously and under pressure, with a flexible and pragmatic approach.
  • A track record of successfully managing and delivering IT projects on time and within budget.
  • Proficiency in ITIL practices and a strong understanding of IT service management.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse complex technical issues and deliver effective, scalable solutions.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
