Overview
Adults Social Worker - Mid Essex (Various Teams). Permanent, Full Time. Salary £37,185 to £50,081 per annum.
Location:
Chelmsford, Braintree, Maldon. Working Style:
Community-based worker. Interviews will be held in person at County Hall on 16 February 2026. This advert is open to Experienced and Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSW). The starting salary for a NQSW is £34,902 per annum, rising to £37,185 per annum upon successful completion of the ASYE programme.
Mid Essex is at the centre of our county, covering Chelmsford, Braintree, Maldon and surrounding areas. It is a diverse locality to work in with opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across Essex County Council. This is one of our most connected areas with excellent travel links, including direct trains to London. We currently have opportunities across different teams in Mid Essex, including:
- Physical & Sensory Impairments Team
- Older Adults Mental Health Team
- Neighbourhood Teams
Team preference can be discussed ase note that we are currently unable to consider Newly Qualified Social Workers for the Physical & Sensory Impairments team. Our teams offer hybrid working with an expectation to be office-based in Chelmsford around 2 to 3 days per week depending on business needs for collaboration and training.
About YouIf you share our vision, you enjoy meeting people and listening to their stories, you may be interested in this role. You’ll be a Social Worker registered with Social Work England with a strong combination of creative thought, reliability and practical ability to get things done.
You’ll have a broad understanding of statutory responsibilities and a commitment to meeting them in a person-centred way. You may have experience chairing meetings and you’ll be able to develop strong relationships with partner agencies and the local community to provide a supportive framework. The role involves travelling around Essex; a driving licence and access to a car—or the ability to meet mobility requirements by other means—is essential.
