We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and nurturing Special Educational Needs (SEN) School in the Braintree area. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about helping children with additional needs to thrive in a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.

As a Cover Teaching Assistant, you will provide support across various classes as needed, working closely with class teachers to ensure continuity of learning and high-quality support for students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide classroom support to pupils with a range of special educational needs.
  • Step in to support different classes across the school during staff absence.
  • Assist with implementing individualised learning plans and behaviour strategies.
  • Build positive, trusted relationships with pupils to help them feel safe and supported.
  • Help manage the classroom environment to ensure it remains calm, engaging, and conducive to learning.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and the wider school team.
We would love to hear from you if you are:
  • Patient, caring, and reliable with a genuine passion for working with children.
  • Confident supporting young people with autism, SEMH needs, or other learning difficulties (experience desirable but not essential).
  • Able to adapt to different classrooms, routines, and support needs.
  • A strong communicator and positive team player.
  • Available for full-time, term-time work.
Requirements
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • Experience working with children or young people (school-based or related settings).
  • Right to work in the UK.
