ResponsibilitiesThe Crematory Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and respectful operation of cremation equipment. The role ensures that all cremation procedures are conducted in compliance with legal, regulatory, and company standards, while providing compassionate and professional service to families. The operator maintains accurate records, ensures equipment is in good working condition, and supports funeral home operations as needed. The position requires availability Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM with flexibility for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to engage effectively with internal and external customers.
- Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to navigate unique situations.
- Proficiency in using computer applications and email for scheduling and information gathering.
- Detail‑oriented with ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in documents.
- Ability to drive safely and efficiently, using GPS or other methods to locate addresses.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality in all interactions.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude and delivering exceptional customer service.
- Capable of working independently and following prescribed routines and procedures for cremation operations.
- Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record and ability to pass a motor vehicle record check.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a crematory, funeral home, or similar setting preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience operating equipment a plus.
- Certification in crematory operations may be required or required to be obtained within a specified time frame.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs. including deceased individuals when necessary.
- Ability to stand, bend, twist, kneel, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a high‑temperature environment during cremation processes.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both in person and over the phone, with the ability to listen and speak clearly.
- Must maintain regular, punctual attendance, including evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as needed.
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and professionalism when interacting with bereaved families.
