Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN with at least two years of recent specialty experience and a NM or compact state RN license for rotating weeknight and weekend shifts.

• Work in a hospital PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) setting
• Care for post-anesthesia patients recovering from surgery or procedures
• 10-hour shifts, 4 days per week
• Rotating weeknight and weekend shifts are required
• 30-minute call-back response time required during assigned shifts
• Floating between departments and local locations within 20 miles is required
• EPIC EMR is used; onsite training is available
• Provide direct nursing care utilizing the nursing process for assigned post-anesthesia patients
• Collaborate with the healthcare team and coordinate care with the patient and family
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and document according to policy
• Supervise LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel as assigned
• Identify and address patient and family education and discharge needs throughout the care episode
• Must wait one year after permanent employment at the facility to be eligible as a traveler
• No local candidates; must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Passing BCA test is mandatory; failure after two attempts results in termination

• Active state of New Mexico or compact RN license
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
• Minimum of two years of current PACU RN experience required
• At least one prior 13-week travel assignment required
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)
• Must pass basic cardiac arrhythmias (BCA) testing during first week of assignment
