Job Description
American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN with at least two years of recent specialty experience and a NM or compact state RN license for rotating weeknight and weekend shifts.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) setting
- Care for post-anesthesia patients recovering from surgery or procedures
- 10-hour shifts, 4 days per week
- Rotating weeknight and weekend shifts are required
- 30-minute call-back response time required during assigned shifts
- Floating between departments and local locations within 20 miles is required
- EPIC EMR is used; onsite training is available
- Provide direct nursing care utilizing the nursing process for assigned post-anesthesia patients
- Collaborate with the healthcare team and coordinate care with the patient and family
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and document according to policy
- Supervise LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel as assigned
- Identify and address patient and family education and discharge needs throughout the care episode
- Must wait one year after permanent employment at the facility to be eligible as a traveler
- No local candidates; must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Passing BCA test is mandatory; failure after two attempts results in termination
- Active state of New Mexico or compact RN license
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
- Minimum of two years of current PACU RN experience required
- At least one prior 13-week travel assignment required
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)
- Must pass basic cardiac arrhythmias (BCA) testing during first week of assignment
