Role OverviewWe are recruiting an experienced nurse to join our Government team as a Medical Case Manager. This UK office‑based position offers an exceptional chance to transition from clinical practice to a role that continues to apply your nursing expertise while maintaining patient contact through telephone and technology. Responsibilities- Conduct routine medical case management activities focused on patient well‑being and satisfaction.
- Offer medical advice and recommendations to patients and clients through direct communication channels, regardless of geographical location.
- Liaise with international medical professionals to obtain crucial medical information, coordinate treatment, and make recommendations for care changes or upgrades.
- Assess and evaluate medical reports and write referrals to ensure appropriate action is taken to support patients with acute care needs and to help their employer/insurer fulfil their duty of care.
- Evaluate medical standards of care at the patient’s location against international standards and advise on fitness to fly.
- Conduct pre‑travel screening assessments and provide pre‑travel overseas medical planning advice.
- Work collaboratively within own competency to advise non‑medical staff and consult with in‑house doctors to develop a clear, safe medical plan for patients.
- Arrange medical evacuations and repatriations via commercial carriers with medical escorts or by air ambulance.
- Occasionally serve as a medical escort on international repatriations.
- Participate in internal quality‑improvement projects.
- Registered General Nurse with a current NMC PIN.
- Prior experience in clinical case management is advantageous.
- Exceptional telephone etiquette and technical proficiency (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, databases).
- Experience in one or more of the following areas:
Primary Care / General Medical / Surgical Nursing—adult and/or paediatric. - Demonstrated ability to identify critical medical issues and promptly escalates them for appropriate case management.
- Excels under pressure within a fast‑paced environment, displaying adaptability and empathy.
- Effective written and spoken English communication skills.
- Proficiency in additional language(s) is advantageous.
- Strong teamwork skills in a professional business environment, with the ability to create clear short‑ and long‑term plans for patients.
- Minimum of 3 years recent clinical experience at Band 5 or above, with a current NMC PIN.
- Basic IT skills with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capability to work independently to plan and manage caseload.
- Experience working within a government, military, overseas environment, medical insurance, assistance sector, or repatriation experience.
- Office‑based work with patient contact via telephone and technology.
