Overview
Escondido Recreation is looking for dynamic individuals that are passionate about working at the Escondido Sports Center Facility. If you enjoy engaging with the public, practicing customer service, and leading a team, this is the perfect job for you. Available openings include one position with shifts on weekdays (2:45 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.) and weekends (7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.).
This position is budgeted to start at $17.77 per hour. This is a PARS (Public Agency Retirement System) budgeted position and is limited to 1,000 hours per fiscal year. This is not a PERS eligible position.
Key Responsibilities- Under the supervision of the Community Services Supervisor, assist in monitoring daily facility operations.
- Provide assistance to City staff, outside agencies, and the general public regarding all Community Services programs, activities, and facilities.
- Provide a variety of technical, administrative, and programmatic work while applying all department goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
- Provide assistance as needed to fellow employees for special programs, daily tasks, and unanticipated events.
- Ensure safety of participants and enforce all park rules.
- Provide back-up for the registration staff.
- Provide excellent customer service via phone, email, and in-person.
- Open and close the facility.
- Act as a liaison between staff and supervisors.
- Handle all emergencies, incidents, and injuries.
- Ensure all programs are running smoothly and efficiently.
- Resolve registration, concession, and program problems as they arise.
- Have bilingual skills in English and Spanish
- Work well in a team environment as well as in a fast-paced, often hectic environment
- Be energetic, self-motivated, and team-oriented
- Have excellent customer service skills and the ability to work with community members of all ages, volunteers, outside agency representatives, and City staff
- Have experience in one or more of the following areas: administrative work, soccer, hockey, scooter/skateboarding, and/or facility management
- Have the ability to lift 50 lbs
- 18 years of age at the time of employment
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- Evening and weekend availability
