ResponsibilitiesA Nurse Resident position is a mentored experience to facilitate transition from student to professional nurse. Responsibilities include delivering coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients within an assigned unit and overseeing day-to-day management and supervision of related clinical activities. The role involves supervising and directing the activities of various levels of nursing and ancillary personnel, utilizing professional and supervisory discretion, independent judgment, and adherence to applicable laws and nursing standards.
The Nurse Resident must also comply with the California Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, the ANA Bill of Rights for Registered Nurses, and the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice for Nurses. Other duties include using standard office equipment and computer software (MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e‑mail), and performing the duties required within the first two weeks of employment.
The Nurse Resident will follow Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards, and carry out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.
Minimum Education: Certification and/or licensure as required by law
Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or Master’s Degree in Nursing from a California Board of Registered Nursing approved school
Minimum Experience: 0–6 months in similar work

Required Certification: American Heart Association recognized BLS – Healthcare Provider

Proficient in standard office equipment (calculator, fax, photocopier) and computer software (MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e‑mail). Windows computer skills including keyboarding, mouse use, dropdown menus, scroll bars, folder navigation, copying and other operations required within first two weeks of employment.
