Application Requirements
Must attach a current Food Handler's Certificate from the COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO (CA state food cards will not be accepted). Certificates from other sources will NOT be accepted. Information on how to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate can be found by clicking the link above. A computer is available at the EUSD district office for applicants to complete the online application.
After submitting an application, monitor your email for communication from the district regarding your application status. Current employees in this classification wishing to be considered for a change in hours or work location must have a transfer request form on file with the district for the 2025‑26 school year.
The successful candidate must:
- Subscribe to an Oath of Allegiance,
- Submit to a general tuberculosis examination,
- Be fingerprinted,
- Complete a pre‑placement physical examination,
- Show proof of identity and right to work in the United States.
Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results from drug testing. In addition, the candidate must possess the relevant training, education, and experience required, and attain placement on the eligibility list by successfully passing all examination parts pertaining to the classification.
CertificationWhen a vacant position is to be filled, the Classified Personnel Director submits to the appointing power the names of the top three “ranks.” This is known as “certification,” and the appointing power may select any one of the persons certified. The names of those not appointed remain on the eligibility list.
Eligibility ListCandidates successfully completing all phases of the application and examination process will be ranked on the eligibility list according to total examination score. The list normally is in effect for one year.
Employee Service CreditEmployee service credit shall be added to the final composite scores in an open examination for regular employees and those on re‑employment lists for Escondido Union School District. Employees shall receive a credit of one half point (.5) for each complete year of service in regular classified status as of the date of the establishment of the eligibility list to a maximum of five (5) points.

HolidaysRegular classified employees are entitled to pay for authorized holidays, provided they were in a paid status during any portion of the working day immediately preceding or succeeding the holiday. Authorized holidays number 16 for twelve‑month employees.
Longevity PayLongevity pay increments are paid continuously until the next increase becomes effective. The increased pay percentage is added to the employee’s base pay rate, effective July 1, after the required number of years of service: 9 years (3.5 %), 14 years (7.123 %), 19 years (12.158 %), 24 years (16.644 %), 29 years (21.310 %), 34 years (26.162 %), 39 years (31.209 %), 44 years (36.457 %), 49 years (41.915 %), 54 years (47.592 %), 59 years (53.495 %).
Merit SystemAppointment and continuing employment of classified employees is based on the merit principle. Statements of these principles and policies are expressed in the merit system rules and regulations.
