The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations within the paper production facility to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and cost targets are met. This role provides direct leadership to hourly production employees and ensures paper manufacturing processes—such as pulping, paper making, converting, and finishing—are executed efficiently and in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to meet output, quality, and delivery goals
- Lead, coach, and develop production employees, promoting teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Ensure strict adherence to safety policies, environmental regulations, and housekeeping standards
- Monitor paper manufacturing processes, equipment performance, and material flow to minimize downtime and waste
- Troubleshoot production issues related to paper quality, machine performance, and workflow
- Enforce quality standards and work closely with Quality and Technical teams to resolve defects or process deviations
- Maintain accurate production records, shift reports, and labor tracking
- Support continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, 5S, and waste reduction
- Coordinate with Maintenance to schedule repairs and preventive maintenance
- Participate in hiring, training, performance management, and disciplinary actions as needed
- High school diploma or GED required;
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field preferred - 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in paper, pulp, tissue, or packaging operations
- Prior supervisory or team lead experience strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of paper manufacturing processes and industrial equipment
- Familiarity with safety regulations, environmental compliance, and quality systems
- Strong leadership and people-management skills
- Solid understanding of production metrics, KPIs, and manufacturing efficiency
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and process-related issues
- Effective communication skills across all levels of the organization
- Basic computer skills (production systems, spreadsheets, reporting tools)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment
- Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to noise, heat, dust, and industrial equipment
- Requires walking, standing, and climbing for extended periods
- May involve rotating shifts, weekends, and holiday coverage
