Expected pay for this position is $31.49 - $37.05/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

OverviewPOSITION SUMMARY: The Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) is responsible for performing and overseeing various routine and complex laboratory tests, using advanced technical knowledge of instrumentation, maintenance and quality control. Assists other members of the lab with troubleshooting. Regularly checks validity and accuracy of test results obtained by laboratory personnel. Performs the duties of lab technical personnel on a regular basis. Independent judgment and professional education and certification are required.
Qualifications- Education and Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree. Must obtain one of the following within the first year of employment:
Successful completion of the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) American Medical Technologists (AMT) Board of Certification MLS exam.
- Bachelor’s degree. Must obtain one of the following within the first year of employment:
- Alternative bachelor’s degrees are acceptable with successful completion of ASCP or AMT certification exam prior to employment.
- Experience:
- One year of Laboratory experience (including testing above routine testing).
- One year experience with one or more of the following:
Participation and/or completion of Lab project/s Resolution of complex troubleshooting issues Quality Control monitoring Technology Trainer for lab computer system onsite and/or new lab activation
- Other skills/knowledge:
Maintains current certification according to guidelines established by appropriate certifying agency. Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively and communicate with patients and other health care professionals. High level of professionalism and skillful performance in stressful situations.
- Education:
A bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) - Experience:
5 years of experience as a MLS - Licensure/
Certifications:
ASCP or AMT Board of Certification MLS exam
