Responsibilities- Works collaboratively with community and agency professionals.
- Provides leadership to staff and team.
- Collaborates with staff and team members (Director, Youth Residential Director, Teachers, Youth Specialist Supervisors, and Youth Specialists).
- Attends team meetings.
- As part of the team, the Youth Group Leader provides the direction for the delivery of individual, group and family-oriented services to residents of the institution.
- Identifies, locates, schedules, performs, and/or attends training for facility staff.

EducationPossession of a bachelor’s or master’s degree with a major in social welfare, social work, sociology, psychology, family ecology, family and child development, counseling and guidance, clinical mental health counseling, or criminal justice.
Experience LevelsYouth Group Leader 9
This is the entry level. The employee performs a range of professional Youth Group Leader assignments while learning the methods of the work.
Youth Group Leader 10
This is the intermediate level. The employee performs an expanding range of professional Youth Group Leader assignments in a developing capacity.
Youth Group Leader P11
This is the experienced level. The employee performs a full range of professional Youth Group Leader assignments. Considerable independent judgement is used to make decisions in carrying out assignments that have significant impact on services or programs. Guidelines may be available but require adaptation or interpretation to determine appropriate courses of action.

LocationPosition is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Bay Pines Center, 2425 North 30th Street, Escanaba, MI. 49829. The selected incumbent will be required to physically report to this office. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of the interview.
