Overview
Job Description: The Senior Engineer – Storage & Databases supports DXC’s Cloud & ITO services across the UKI region, delivering reliable, secure, and scalable storage and database solutions in enterprise and hybrid cloud environments. The role acts as a technical SME, supporting customer platforms, ensuring service stability, and driving continuous improvement.
ResponsibilitiesDesign, operate, and optimize enterprise storage, database, and data protection solutions
Support hybrid and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, private cloud)
Act as an SME / escalation point for storage and database-related issues
Ensure availability, performance, backup, and recovery of customer data
Participate in incident, problem, and change management (ITIL)
Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and service improvement activities
Support migrations, upgrades, and modernization initiatives
Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures
Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, security, and application teams
Participate in on-call and out-of-hours support when required
Strong experience in enterprise storage platforms (Net App, Dell EMC, HPE, or similar)
Experience supporting databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, Postgre
SQL, MySQL)Knowledge of backup & recovery solutions (Commvault, Net Backup, Veeam, etc.)
Experience in cloud and hybrid environments
Solid understanding of Linux and Windows systems
Experience in managed services / enterprise customer environments
