Position Summary
The Driver is responsible for the efficient and safe transportation of products to Crescent customers, fulfilling customer requirements. The driver reports overages, shortages, and damages promptly. As a key position, the driver supports business operations aligned with the Crescent Way and 3P’s:

Safety
- Ensure a safe and well‑maintained work environment throughout all work spaces, vehicles, facility and surrounding areas.
- Properly secure loads and ensure loads are within legal weight limits.
- Comply with all Department of Transportation standards and regulations.
- Maintain a good driving record.
- Report vehicle problems and defects to manager or lead.
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical items, safety issues, and perform preventative maintenance.
- Ensure good customer service relations by consistently delivering orders on time and acting in a courteous and professional manner.
- Train and monitor other drivers to ensure they work in a safe and responsible manner.
- Promote a work environment where Crescent People are valued, respected and can safely communicate, grow and develop.
- Unload or assist in unloading and secure loads as required.
- Perform all other duties as assigned, including but not limited to the identification and training of other drivers.
- Verify count and condition of goods loaded and unloaded.
- Make reports of overages, shortages and breakage/damage as needed.
- Ensure inventory accuracy.
- Transport and deliver product according to the schedule determined by the lead or dispatcher to all Crescent customers.
- Manage customer relationships, reporting and communication to ensure customers are well informed.
- Improve organizational efficiency and waste reduction.
- Manage the correct use of all material and supplies.
- Report defects, accidents or violations.

- Fast‑paced environment requiring adaptability to constant changes in schedules, volumes, staffing and shift requirements.
- Must be able to climb in and out of tractor cab.
- Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arm’s length, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.).
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to read instructions and perform basic arithmetic operations and understand percentages.
- Continually monitor the tractor/trailer and surroundings to make necessary decisions to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Ability to listen for understanding and balance communication with facts and examples to instruct People.
- Ability to accept and accommodate change.
- Determine how information fits together and relate to safety and efficiency.
- Break problems into steps and produce logical, timely solutions.
- Pay attention to surroundings and act safely and predictably.
- Manage time effectively, schedule and prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
- Reliance on attendance and punctuality to complete responsibilities satisfactorily.
- Cooperative and responsive to coworker and team needs; courteous and respectful in dealing with others.
- CDL Class A with endorsements required by classification of material hauled.
- Department of Transportation physical certification approval and yearly physical as necessary.
- High school education or equivalent.
- 2 years verifiable experience with tractor/trailer or comparable machinery.
- Knowledge of Part 49 (CFR) Driver handbook.
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
- Ability to effectively orally communicate.
- Skill in operating different classes and types of trucks.
- Hands‑on experience with electronic equipment and software as required by the company.
- Operate the truck in a safe and responsible manner.
- Deliver to customers efficiently.
- Reliable attendance.
- Maintain a good driving record.
- Exhibit mutual respect for Crescent associates, customer representatives, and the motoring community.
- I am at least 18 years of age or older.
- I can perform the essential functions of this position, with or without accommodation.
- I am a U.S. Citizen or otherwise authorized to work in the U.S. on an unrestricted basis.
