Overview
Regulatory Affairs Specialist (Contract) — 15-month assignment | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | Pay: $30-$35 an hour. We are seeking a detail-oriented Regulatory Affairs Specialist to support regulatory compliance activities for food, flavor, beverage, or related product portfolios. This is a long-term contract opportunity ideal for a regulatory professional who thrives in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Key Skills & Competencies- Strong technical understanding of regulatory documentation with the ability to research, interpret, and apply rules and guidance across product portfolios and ingredients
- Proficiency in FDA and Canadian regulations; familiarity with EU food and flavor regulations is a plus
- USDA labeling experience preferred
- Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills to collaborate with global customers and internal teams
- Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements for non-regulatory audiences (Sales, R&D)
- Proven ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work independently under pressure
- Strong attention to detail to minimize compliance risks
- Data & Document Management:
- Maintain regulatory and technical data for purchased ingredients, finished flavors, and food bases
- Communicate with vendors to interpret documentation and ensure database accuracy
- Regulatory Documentation:
- Create, update, and issue specifications, ingredient and allergen statements, nutritional information, GMO status, organic compliance, Kosher/Halal certifications, country compliance, country of origin, SDS, and other regulatory documentation
- Regulatory Support & Compliance:
- Assess pending formula changes and communicate required regulatory change notices
- Assist with Regulatory ISO work instructions, customer purchasing specifications, and internal regulatory resources
- Collaboration & Representation:
- Act as a regulatory resource for internal and external stakeholders
- Provide regulatory guidance to R&D and commercial teams
- Communicate with governing agencies, third-party certifiers, and trade associations
- Participate in internal and external audits as required
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned; occasional travel may be required
- 3–5 years of experience in regulatory compliance, preferably within food, beverage, flavor, cosmetic, or oral-care industries
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; laboratory experience is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to learn ERP systems and internal software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong planning, organization, and prioritization skills; project management experience is a plus
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
