Basic Purpose

This position is accountable for coordinating day-to-day aspects of the Quality Assurance function and

assisting with the continuous improvement process. Under the direction of the Quality Manager, this

position is responsible for continuously improving quality practices, designing and implementing systems

and procedures to ensure process effectiveness/efficiency and documentation accuracy to meet

customer requirements and maintain ISO 9001:2015 / IATF-16949:2016 certification.

Principal Accountabilities

1. Plan/design, direct, control, manage and coordinate all systems that ensure the Erie quality system is

in compliance with organizational and IATF-16949 expectations and standards.

2. Participate as a member of the plant leadership team and help to design, create and continuously

improve the structure, infrastructure, and operating processes of Accuride.

3. Serve as a technical resource for the Erie organization and provide expert knowledge, creative

direction and internal consulting to advance Continuous Improvement processes and initiatives.

4. Ensure the conformance to specification of product, through inspection practices, nonconformance

control, gauge control, statistical process control, advanced quality planning, corrective actions,

preventative actions, mistake proofing methodologies, measurement systems analysis, process

capabilities, analysis and the use of company level data and customer satisfaction; coordinate control

plans, new product PPAP tests, samples, and in-process testing.

5. Analyze system effectiveness, establish and coordinate an effective internal auditing process.

6. Investigate and resolve quality issues, responds to customer complaints and visits customers on a

routine basis to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and address issues.

7. Design and implement communications and training and programs and processes to ensure an

understanding of system requirements and effectiveness and to ensure a high level of competence of

inspection and other personnel. Train employees in problem solving techniques and effective

utilization of decision-making tools.

8. Oversee the development, implementation and documentation of training and developmental

activities for inspection personnel and assist in the development of a facility wide plan to continuously

improve product quality.

9. Develop and promote a team environment and participates in the development and implementation of

systems for teaming and continuous improvement.

10. Produce measurable improvement relative to budget in reducing cost, cycle time, and inventories

while improving total quality performance on a daily and monthly basis.

11. Program the plant's Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).

12. Analyze plant operations using engineering principles and techniques and make recommendations to

improve efficiency, effectiveness and profitability.

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

* Must possess a bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality or the Metallurgical Sciences.

* A minimum of 5 years' experience in an automotive Manufacturing operation preferred.

* At least 5 years' experience in Quality Assurance and/or Continuous Improvement; knowledge of lean manufacturing methodology and implementation desired.

* Basic knowledge of technologies and methodologies used in continuous process improvement and organizational development initiatives including application of Six Sigma.

* Comprehensive knowledge of quality systems, tools and procedures (IATF 16949) and related customer quality standards and requirements.

* Practical knowledge of Quality Core tools (PPAP, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, and APQP).

* Excellent planning, organizing and time management skills; proven success working independently and in a team environment.

* Working knowledge of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and related programming.

* Applied ability in statistical quality control processes; capacity to read/interpret schematic drawings.

* Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers

* Capability to collect, organize and interpret data; solve problems and make matric-driven recommendations.

* Effective interpersonal skills; with the ability to interact with employees at all organizational levels

* Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and related Quality/Engineering software.
