Position SummaryWorks with Engineering, Marketing, Quality, Regulatory, and other key stakeholders to ensure U.S. market and regulatory requirements are met during the design of a product.
PrincipalDuties & Responsibilities
- Works with cross‑functional teams including Marketing, Production, Quality, Regulatory, and R&D to develop design history files (DHF) of medical devices.
- Provide expertise on product design and optimal design specifications.
- Lead cross‑functional teams to complete medium and large sized projects with moderate management supervision.
- Interpret and apply appropriate standards and regulatory guidance to new and existing medical devices.
- Define appropriate test strategies and execute testing either internally or with third‑party vendors.
- Organize and lead meetings to plan and track project progress.
- Work to quality system regulation design control documents.
- Comply with applicable ISO and FDA regulations as stated in the Quality Manual.
- Embodiment of the Company's Vision, Mission and Values.
- Create 3D models in CATIA V5.
- Transfer models to 2D drawings.
- Dimension, tolerance and complete drawing to standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Travel by air and car; occasional weekend work.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Handle instruments that may have been contaminated by blood or other bodily fluids under OSHA regulations.
- Use professional concepts to solve complex problems and achieve goals.
- Coordinate and support team activities using creative thinking and organizational skills.
- Work well with intermittent supervision.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required.
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Biomechanical Engineering preferred.
- General CAD experience; CATIA V5 preferred.
- 5 years industrial experience preferred.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents; respond to inquiries or complaints; present information to top management or boards. Advanced mathematical skills including exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, permutations, frequency distribution, test reliability, ANOVA, correlation, sampling theory, factor analysis. Reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Physical Demands- Regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; occasionally stand, walk, lift or move up to 20 pounds.
- Noise level usually moderate; handling of instruments that may be contaminated by blood or other bodily fluids under OSHA regulations.
