Overview
Utility Distribution Project Manager to lead electric utility distribution projects remotely.
Location:
Remote (Greater Philadelphia Area, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, or Ohio).
- Lead utility distribution projects from initiation through close-out, coordinating engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and completion activities.
- Manage all project documentation, including contracts, requisitions, Bills of Material (BOMs), Task Authorizations, and Engineering Work Requests.
- Provide regular status updates to executive sponsors on scope, budget, risks, and schedule milestones.
- Anticipate project challenges and proactively elevate risks or issues for resolution.
- Monitor project budgets for accuracy, compliance, and adequacy throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules in coordination with Portfolio and Work Management teams.
- Prepare capital expenditure authorizations and manage budget revisions as needed.
- Track contractor staffing levels and resource utilization to ensure alignment with project plans.
- Review and approve project execution plans to ensure alignment with scope, schedule, and budget objectives.
- Align project goals with organizational strategy and communicate priorities to internal teams and client stakeholders.
- Validate cost estimates, apply appropriate contingencies, and ensure all planned work is completed on schedule.
- Implement project-specific quality control programs in alignment with client requirements and industry standards.
- Review and approve contractor procedures and ensure compliance throughout execution.
- Oversee project close-out documentation and lead post-project audits and lessons-learned reviews.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience managing electric utility projects.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects across cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to travel to client locations across PA, NJ, Maryland and Ohio as needed.
- Experience in engineering, construction, project controls, or utility operations.
- PMP certification (completed or in progress).
- Experience with project management tools such as Primavera or Microsoft Project.
- Familiarity with detailed project controls and utility capital programs.
