Atkins

Réalis is one of the world’s most respected design, engineering and project management consultancies, with over 35,000 employees worldwide. At Atkins

Réalis, we offer more than just a job. We offer an opportunity to make a difference and shape the world to benefit future generations and the natural environment.

As part of our Environment practice, our highly respected Water Management Consultancy business operates at the interface between people and the water environment, tackling problems relating to water availability, water quality, water habitat and future changes to these. We offer our clients a team of passionate, intelligent, digitally-minded, capable, and innovative staff with a unique blend of diverse technical skills. We enjoy working collaboratively and innovatively, delivering projects that bring about real change and that make a positive difference to the environment and society.

This provides great career development opportunity for our staff.

Our hydro geologists work at the forefront of managing the challenges of providing resilient and environmentally sustainable water supplies for the future while ensuring water habitats are protected from new infrastructure development. We are undertaking an increasing number and range of important and exciting projects that involve groundwater resource evaluation, development and management and environmental impact investigation for water companies, other major water users and regulators.

Building on this success, we are growing our team and this growth could include you. You could help us to win and deliver work across our extensive client portfolio and enhance our reputation for excellence.

As an already experienced hydrogeologist, and ideally chartered, you will have led and delivered groundwater related project tasks in the UK and/or internationally. You will work closely with our technical specialists who are based in our established teams in Birmingham, Epsom, London, Oxford and Peterborough. We have a friendly and approachable team with a strong reputation for delivering excellence with multiple clients.##

Your Role
* You will work with our hydrogeologist technical leads and other technical disciplines in winning, delivering and managing our portfolio of groundwater projects and developing trusted client relationships.
* You will champion high standards of performance, and influence project development. As an experienced hydrogeologist you will have the technical knowledge and project/bid skills to undertake work assigned to you to a high standard, ensuring accuracy and quality.
* You are likely to undertake and delegate complex problem solving that may include data gathering and processing, calculations and modelling, conceptualization, reporting, proposal writing and costing.
* Collaborative and supportive teamwork is vital to our success, and you will work closely with the rest of the groundwater resources team sometimes delegating to, reviewing the work of and mentoring more junior staff.
* You will also work collaboratively with other technical disciplines in the Water Management Consultancy team and beyond, delivering a range of projects relating to water supply, strategic planning, resource optimization and environmental assessment.## About you
* With a degree in science, engineering or mathematics and a post-graduate qualification in hydrogeology or a related subject, you are likely to be chartered through a relevant professional body.
* You will have demonstrable experience as a hydrogeologist within consultancy, water company, regulator or academic fields.
* Your experience will include water resources hydrogeology and hydrology, for example Water Industry National Environment Programme investigations (low flow, Water Framework Directive No Deterioration or Environmental Destination, catchment water quality), signal and pumping tests, borehole design, groundwater flooding or water resource planning.
* You will have a good understanding of UK hydrogeology and of the operational and environmental regulatory framework of UK water management.
* You will have experience of leading project tasks and possibly entire projects through problem definition, data collection, analysis, interpretation and drawing succinct conclusions and recommendations.
* Evidence that you can develop new and innovative approaches will be advantageous.
* You will have excellent numerical, analytical, report-writing and presentational skills and an eye for detail.
* You will be highly motivated and proactive and enjoy solving challenging water resources…
