Certified Pharmacy Technician n a team that delivers a distinctive and delightful customer experience while supporting pharmacy operations.
Base Pay Range$20.50/hr – $24.00/hr
Responsibilities- Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy, following state, federal, and company regulations.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and ensure accurate entry of data.
- Co‑coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers in the operation of pharmacy systems and pharmacy cash registers (if PTCB certified).
- Handle customer interactions by greeting and assisting patients, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive experience using Walgreens service traits.
- Maintain pharmacy workflow, including counting, pouring, labeling medications, verifying drugs, checking for interactions, and scheduling tasks.
- Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist and comply with the Quality Improvement Program.
- Register all related sales on the cash register, manage cash, and assist customers to the OTC aisle when appropriate.
- Handle non‑pharmacist calls, including physician communications.
- Process manual claims for third‑party prescription services, perform clerical duties, and assist with inventory management (ordering, unpacking, storing).
- Support clinical services such as sample collection and labeling, and coordinate with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
- Help build relationships with local medical professionals through detailing and outreach.
- Assist in maintaining the Pharmacy Department’s appearance and supply levels.
- Complete special assignments and additional tasks as requested by pharmacy leadership.
- Earn and maintain PTCB certification via the designated training program or state‑required certification.
- Attend training, complete required Practice Product List (PPL) modules, and obtain continuing education credits.
- Keep up‑to‑date with developments in healthcare and pharmacy.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- At least six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prior experience working at Walgreens.
- Strong math skills for accurate prescription filling.
- Good computer skills.
- Knowledge of store inventory control.
- PTCB certification.
