We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician (Generalist) to join our dynamic laboratory team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of diagnostic tests across multiple disciplines, including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and blood banking. The Medical Laboratory Technician will ensure accurate test results, maintain laboratory equipment, and adhere to all regulatory standards. This position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about clinical laboratory science and patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and complex laboratory tests in various areas, including hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, and blood bank.
- Analyze test results and report findings accurately and promptly to healthcare providers.
- Prepare and process specimens following laboratory procedures and safety standards.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments, ensuring they are calibrated and functioning correctly.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., CLIA, CAP, OSHA).
- Review and verify test results for accuracy and troubleshoot any discrepancies.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance programs, ensuring high-quality standards are met.
- Assist in maintaining inventory and ordering laboratory supplies.
- Document test results, quality control data, and equipment maintenance logs.
- Communicate with physicians, laboratory staff, and other healthcare providers to ensure smooth workflow and patient care.
- Assist in training new staff and providing guidance as needed.
- Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from a recognized accrediting agency (e.g., ASCP, AMT) preferred.
- At least 1-2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting is preferred, but recent graduates are also encouraged to apply.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and basic computer skills.
