Your role as a Field Application Engineer at Xsens

As a Field Application Engineer (“FAE”) you bridge the gap between the commercial and technical worlds, and you will be the first technical support point of contact for highly innovative industrial companies in EMEA and other regions. These companies are integrating the Xsens MTi® series of MEMS 3D inertial sensor modules, from IMU to GNSS/INS, into their, mostly robotic/autonomous platforms and industrial vehicles.

Also, you will support our latest technology breakthrough releases, the Xsens Vision Navigator and the SIRIUS and AVIOR Series. You will meet with customers in highly innovative markets such as Drones, Autonomous Vehicles, Naval/Maritime robotics and mobile robots in Intralogistics, Mining and Smart Farming.

With your customer- and market insights you will also support the development of new products as coordinated by the Product Manager. You will be based in Enschede as part of our global sales team, which are in the Netherlands, United States, Canada, China and India. Daily, you work with our Account Executives, Product Manager and the worldwide team of field application engineers.

You will report directly to the Business Line Director, based in Enschede Headquarters, and functionally support the Global FAE Team Lead.

Key challenges:

  • Provide technical support and training to Xsens’ customers and channel partners, to ensure optimal customer satisfaction; assist customers with software tools and hardware integration
  • Present and demonstrate Xsens’ industrial sensors to potential customers: on-site, at conferences and by means of online webinars
  • Identify opportunities to improve technical support for the Automation & Mobility market segments;
    Pro-actively take actions on identified opportunities
  • Support development of Xsens pre-and after sales tools (Online technical documentation, presentations, marketing material, tutorial videos, etc.)
  • Use feedback coming from the market (“VoC”) to support and drive the engineering development process of the future product roadmap

Xsens is looking for a self-starting and responsible Field Application Engineer. Someone who thrives in a high-tech environment where entrepreneurial attitude is highly appreciated. You have:

  • Bachelor degree in Science or Engineering (preferably electrical/mechanical engineering, robotics, mechatronics), or proven experience in these fields;
  • Programming knowledge (e.g. C/C++/C#, Matlab, Python, ROS
    2);
  • Experience in B2B customer support or –sales;
  • Preferably knowledge of GNSS/navigation/positioning and mobile robotics;
  • Customer-focused attitude, and able to translate the customer needs for R&D and engineering colleagues;
  • Hands‑on mentality;
  • The ability to work closely together in teams;
  • Excellent communication skills oral & written in English;
  • The ability to travel frequently (up to 35% of your time).
