Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Indirect Tax Analyst to work onsite and manage U.S. sales and use tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely filings, minimizing compliance risk, and supporting the ongoing optimization of tax processes and systems. The position partners closely with Finance and IT to improve workflows and maintain tax configuration within ERP systems.

As the organization continues to grow, the role may expand to support additional indirect tax and compliance responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage U.S. state and local sales and use tax compliance
    , including preparation, review, and filing of returns across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Reconcile sales and use tax accounts and ensure timely remittance of tax payments.
  • Administer tax exemption certificate compliance
    , including supplier exemption documentation.
  • Respond to state and local tax notices and assist with coordination of audit inquiries.
  • Trackand facilitate registrations as the company expands into new jurisdictions.
  • Maintain and support ERP tax configurations related to U.S. sales and use tax.
  • Partner with Finance and IT to identify process improvements and support automation initiatives.
  • Maintain internal controls and documentation supporting indirect tax processes and compliance.
  • Monitor and research emerging indirect tax requirements (e.g., gross receipts taxes, environmental fees).
  • Provide support for Canadian indirect tax matters
    , including GST/HST, as well as excise or property tax matters when needed.
  • Contribute to broader tax and compliance initiatives within the Finance organization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required.
  • Minimum 3+ years of U.S. sales and use tax compliance experience
    , preferably in a multi-state environment.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • CPA or CPA track preferred.
  • Experience with in manufacturing or industrial environments is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., JDE, SAP) and indirect tax software such as Avalara preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian indirect tax regulations is advantageous.
