PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administers first aid and medication to students according to district policy and procedures.

Assists and participates in the implementation of the communicable disease program and screenings.

Communicates effectively with the school nurse, staff, and parents regarding healthcare needs and concerns for referring students in need of further treatment.

Follows medical emergency plans and maintains health records to provide information required by legal and professional standards.

Performs record-keeping and clerical functions under strict confidentiality to support health services staff.

Performs specialized treatments delegated by appropriate personnel, monitored and evaluated by the school nurse.

Supervises students referred for illness and/or injury to monitor their care and maintain order in the health room.

Follows all medical procedures trained by the school nurse.

Abides by all district, state, and federal laws, policies, and procedures.

Performs other tasks and health-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Number of days and compensation based on the Board-approved support personnel salary schedule and employee work calendars.

EVALUATION: Job performance evaluated annually by the principal or assistant principal, lead nurse, or Director of Special Services.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to routinely and continually bend, squat, stand, walk, or climb stairs. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds. Ability to operate computers, copy machines, and other office machines as needed.
